Hi Girls!!

It's so good to be back blogging again. I stopped for a while since we had the Hangar myspace but have realized that you girls are still checking the blog so here goes!!

Relationships are so important for teenage girls!! Do you agree?? The 11th grade girls had a great relationship building event a few weeks ago and I wanted to share some pics with you! All of the 11th grade girls D-ship groups got together and had a Progressive Dinner. They all loaded on the bus with Seth as the only male on the bus!! (We chose him as our special driver!) We went to 4 different homes (the homes the 11th grade girls meet in each week) for a different part of the meal. Needless to say by the end of the night we were stuffed!! We had fruit and cheese at Ingrid Phillips' home and salads at the Wilton's, potato barchicken strips for Seth at the Brewers, and in the end we went to Kim Perry's for dessert....well you'll have to view the pics to find out that part!!

It was really neat to visit the home of Shelley Wilton and see Dr. Wilton and Mrs. Wilton in their home along with Bully the Clergy Dog!! His ministry is to the Wilton family!! Mrs. Wilton gave the girls a great challenge to stick together and love each other so they can be the leaders God would have them to be in their Sr. year, and we all had the opportunity to have our picture made together with Seth right in the middle on the back steps of the Wilton home!!

At Caroline Brewer's home, Seth and Robin presented the girls with a special candle (with their name on it!!) and challenged each girl to let her life shine like a star as she holds out the word of life to others. I think even Seth got a little teary eyed thinking about these girls graduating next year!!

These girls created a great memory and here are the pics to prove it. Oh yeah...Sarah Robinson did catch her hair on fire tyring to get a bite of the chocolate fountain, but we failed to get a pic!! Luckily she is okay, and it didnt do too much damage, but it sure did create a nice aroma there for a few minutes!! :-) Glad you're okay Sarah!! Just for future reference....Don't forget the procedure....Stop, drop, and roll!!!!

Are you IN?

Last Monday I was getting ready to go to Nashville to speak to women about Girls' Ministry. I was feeling a little down because Hannah was so sick and I wanted to be here for her. Also, Student Appreciation Night was on Wed. and I DIDN'T want to miss it if you know what I mean ladies!

You know we have been going through Experiencing God and I have learned that God is working all around me. I just need to open my eyes and see where He is working so I can join Him.

Well, on Monday I called Hannah to let her know that I was going to Nashville and that I would talk to her when I arrived home on Thursday. I asked Hannah this question, "Hannah, if you could tell women who work with teenage girls anything, what would it be?"

She replied, "I would tell them to start discipleship groups! Because
D-ship has prepared me spiritually for the past six months. I couldn't have made it through without my D-ship group."

So I told the women about Hannah and what she said. That was God working around me! I had a Divine appointment! I wasn't able to get home before Hannah went to Heaven, but I know I was exactly where she wanted me to be...telling women to start D-ship groups!!

Are you IN? If you are not in a D-ship group, let me know! I'll make sure you get in one. It will prepare you spiritually for the storms that all of us go through!! I'll continue my story about another Divine Appt. tomorrow! It will bless your heart!!

Get Out of the Box!!!!

This has been a tough week for most all of you! Especially those who know Hannah (and who doesnt!!!) and those who know and love Andrew Kinard. I know many of you are constantly talking to the Father on their behalf. It's amazing what God does in your life while you are praying. Your prayers can change the lives of others!!! Your prayers can change your life!!! Your prayers can make a difference in the lives of those you love!! Keep talking to the Father and listen to what He tells you! When you feel the urge strongly in your heart to do something. Ask God if He is telling you to do it. If He is you will feel it stronger! Then just do it!

Wednesday night was an incredible experience for me. God has prompted my heart to do things this week that I don't normally do! I have tried to be obedient to Him each time He has told me to do something. I prayed for a little girl with leukemia. I walked all the way to the top of the Hangar and brought her down the steps!!! I bought pink roses and took to Hannah. I bought a baby blanket and took to a neighbor who just had a baby and doesnt go to church. Those are not things I would normally do!! I have decided to get out of the box when God tells me to do something!!!

I guess the point I'm trying to make is this: If God tells you to do something, do it. Don't question Him. Don't make excuses. Don't ignore Him, Just do it.

A few years ago, we had neighbors who didnt go to church. I never asked them to go, because I didnt want them to feel weird living beside a minister!!! One day they moved and we never got to say goodbye.

A few months ago, I noticed a lady's name on the prayer list and in staff prayer time, they talked about this young mother. They said she was dying and the doctors gave them no hope. She had two young children and they had been visiting our church before she got sick. I didnt think much about it.

Then two weeks ago, during the invitation I saw a young mother, her two children, and her husband coming down the aisle to join the church. The young mother had an oxygen tank and looked very thin and pale. After church I realized that this was the woman who was supposed to be dead! God has spared her life and she had recovered and was joining the church and had accepted Christ into her life!!!!! Then I realized that this was my neighbor...the one I never invited to church.

Everytime God prompted me to invite her to church, I ignored Him. I'm so thankful that He used someone else to bring this family to Himself. I am sorry I didnt listen to Him before.

I'm trying really hard to be completely obedient to God! Not just doing right and not wrong, but listening to His voice on a daily basis and doing the hard things He tells me to do. Are you willing to get out of the box with me??????

He has a reason for everything! Listen to Him today and be obedient. He wants to use you to accomplish His plan!

Pray for me this week. I leave on Tuesday for Nashville. I will speak at the National Women's Ministry Forum at LifeWay. I will lead classes teaching women how to do Girls' Ministry. I need your prayers!!!!

Hello Girls!
I hope you are having a great week. Didn't you just love the way the video ended for EG!!! I would love to watch the whole thing!! We are going to have some special things going on the next few weeks so don't let up!!! Keep on experiencing HIM everyday!! If you didn't get your Bible study for this week, see me on Wed. night and I will give you a copy. (since the lessons in the book are over.) Seth has some great things for you this week!!

I wanted to remind all the Jr. High girls about the Frankie's Fun Park trip this coming Saturday night, October 28. The cost is $25 and you have to sign up this Wed. in order to go! Look for the Frankie's Fun Park table before Crossfire Wed. night!!!!

Girls having fun on Sunday nights!!

Hello Girls!

I had a wonderful week with Susie Shellenberger from Focus on the Family!! She flew out this week and spent two days here at the Hangar and traveling to speak at different schools!!! Yep! That's right THE Susie Shellenberger from Brio Magazine!!

Sorry most of you didnt get to meet her but you will have the opportunity on March 17, 2o07 she is coming out from Colorado Springs, Colorado to lead a Closer Conference for teenage girls. We had 75 people from different churches in
the Spartanburg and surrounding area come to a luncheon to learn about the Conference.

Some of you met her at your school. Man! She is an awesome speaker!!! Will let you know more about the conference in the next few months but go ahead and put the Closer Conference on your calendar for March 17!!

When I was a teenager one of the most fun things I did was go out to eat on Sunday night with all of my friends!! I think it has been so neat watching the EG groups meeting in the Hangar on Sunday nights and the buzz is "Where are you going to eat?!!!" "Come go with us to eat!!" and then watching everyone scoot out to meet their friends. I have had a little flash back. EG has been great and I've learned so much and just to put the icing on the cake has been the great fellowship. It's going to be a little sad not seeing every one in the Hangar on Sunday nights after Christmas!!!

Hello Girls!!

See You At the Pole was great this morning!!! I was so excited to be at Dorman SYATP this year for the first time! I felt so proud when I looked across the faces of the students standing at the flagpole and saw so many of our FBS students! I really felt proud to see Teal Rosenlund and Mary Mathis up leading in the prayers and music along with so many others. Dorman is blessed to have so many Christian administrators, teachers, and coaches and many of them were there making a stand as well. THANKS FOR SHOWING UP THIS MORNING!!

As I stood there this morning while the ROTC marched out and so methodically raised the flag at the end of our prayer time, I was reminded that in many countries religious freedom is not a privilege to enjoy. Last week I was privileged to attend a briefing at White House (Yep inWashington, DC!!) and I was reminded that we have a Christian president who makes decisions based on God's Word, not opinion polls! He's not perfect but we should be thankful that we have a Christian President whose goal is to keep religious freedom in America.

Last, I was reminded as we prayed for missionaries this morning that God has called Christian young people to be missionaries on the school campus! I challenge you to pray for the 8 students who sit directly around you in class each period. Show random acts of kindness to them. Build a relationship that will enable you to share Jesus with them at the right time!!

Hello Girls!

I hope you all are doing well!

Victoria Shelton had ear surgery yesterday and she is doing fine! Her surgery was very successful and she is feeling much better today! I hope you get well really soon!!!! I am praying for you!

I went to the Dorman/Wren game last night! Way to go! Cavaliers!! It was a great game. Papa Sam's nephew plays for Wren and it was a bitter sweet win for us.

I was very proud to see Brooke Parks leading the band last night! Brooke, you do a great job as the drum major. You are a hard worker and the band wouldn't be the same without you!!

Well, I'm going to the White House Monday!! I'm very excited and I hope I have the opportunity to meet the President! Papa Sam is going to a meeting and I am going with him. I'll let you know next week how things go. Of course, I had to go shopping today and get a new dress if I'm going to the big house!!

I hope all the Young Life girls have a great weekend at Wendy Gap!! I can't wait to hear how God works in your life during the retreat. Leave some comments to let me know how things went.

Hannah, we're still praying for you and hope your fever goes down and your appetite improves. I love you!!

Well, I gotta run. See you girls at church tomorrow morning.

Hello Girls!!!!

Welcome to girl world!!! I decided to start a blog where we can keep in touch. I'll share my heart with you and also post things that you need to know about the girls' ministry at FBS! I will answer questions that girls ask, spotlight different girls who are shining, spotlight different girl D-ship groups, and let you know about different events that are coming up!!!

I think it is fitting that I start the blog today!!! Why??? Because it's Hannah Sobeski's 18th Birthday!!! And she is coming home today from MD Anderson Hospital in Houston!!! So our very first spotlight is HANNAH SOBESKI!!

Hello Hannah!!! All the girls here at FBS want to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! We are praying for you and are wearing our Hannah's Hope bracelets.

Hannah is an inspiration to all of the girls at FBS. She has kept her faith strong in the midst of the storm of cancer. We are all praying for Hannah's healing and that God will use her story to bring other girls to know Him on a deeper level.

In case you don't know Hannah she is in the green shirt on the right of the pic above. The girls with her are all a part of her Discipleship group. Right before Hannah went into the hospital I asked her this question, "What is the one thing you would like to tell other teenage girls?" Her reply was this:

"Please tell other girls to join a discipleship group! They need other girls to hold them accountable and to pray for them. I couldn't go through the next months without God and my D-ship group girls!!!! Discipleship has prepared me to be strong enough to go through treatment for cancer!!

I love you all!!! Read John 14:21 It will change your life!!
